Founder’s Scholarship
Since the year 2019, Mount Kenya University Foundation has been offering the ‘Founder’s Scholarship’, which is an initiative of the institution’s founder Prof. Simon Gicharu. Prof. Gicharu is also the Foundation’s patron. The scholarship is designed for continuing, undergraduate [but Regular] students at any of the university’s campuses.
Applicants must demonstrate inability to pay tuition fees stemming from their economically disadvantaged backgrounds, physically disabilities, and/or other reasons. They must also have completed at least one academic year of study at Mount Kenya University. The Founder’s Scholarship amounts to KES 5,000,000 (US$35,000) annually. Since 2019, over 580 students have benefitted from this scholarship. A total of 133 students who are beneficiaries of this scholarship havae also graduated.
