MKU Foundation to feature in New York event on ‘The Art & Science of Fundraising’
Mount Kenya University Foundation is one of the 60 organizations from around the world that are participating in ‘The Art & Science of Fundraising’ event in New York, USA.
The four-day event will provide MKU Foundation with a unique opportunity to meet with the ‘best of the best’ of New York City’s fundraising world.
The Foundation is being represented by Executive Director John W. Koigi. “Participants will engage in interactive discussions with some of their most successful American colleagues. In addition, they will draw inspiration from the experience of foreign universities and nonprofits that reach out to corporations, foundations, and friends based in the United States,” says Myriad USA, the organizers of the event.
Among the topics in the intensive program are ‘Introduction to The American Art of Fundraising’, ‘Factors Critical to Success in Fundraising’, ‘The Essential Roles of the Chief the Board of Trustees’, and ‘Marketing and Communications in the University and Research Institution Environments’.
MKU Foundation is one of the most active and visible charitable organizations within the Kenyan university set-up. The Foundation has several programs including Scholarships (recently expanded with the introduction of new categories), Innovator’s support and Dollar-For-Dollar, (which particularly targets small benefactors who are among the Kenyan community living abroad), and Climate Action.
“Our motivation is to enrich our pool of resources and in-turn transfer these resources to students in form of scholarships, grants and other forms of support,” said Mr. Koigi.
