Mr Tom Juma

Scholarship amount: Ksh 600,000

Couse: Bachelor of Education (Science)

After getting the scholarship I never knew where to start until I visited main campus in October 2013. Academically, I dreamt of attaining a First Class Honors and I worked very hard throughout my education path to achieve it. This is what Booker T. Washington said, “Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life but as by the obstacles which he has overcome” or “success in life is founded upon attention to the small things rather than to the large things; to the everyday things nearest to us rather than to the things that are remote and uncommon”. “The scholarship has transformed my life since I completed my studies one year ago (2017) because I can now afford to support my family financially and morally. I will always raise the flag of Mount Kenya University very high out here and be a mentor to other bright young Kenyans who dream of their careers but are blocked by poverty”. I am always free and willing to volunteer to some of the activities of the Mount Kenya University Foundation whenever called upon. Currently I am a teacher of Kiswahili at Kangubiri Girls’ High School. God bless Mount Kenya University.
