Joy as MKU Foundation scholarship beneficiaries graduate

Twenty five students who are beneficiaries of MKU Foundation scholarship programme graduated on the occasion of Mount Kenya University’s 25th graduation ceremony held on Friday December 8, 2023.

Among the graduands were 23 Bachelor’s and two Diploma students. They were conferred Degrees and awarded their Diplomas at the event held at MKU Graduation Pavilion at Happy Valley Grounds, Thika.

The ceremony’s theme was “the role of higher education in driving small-scale industry for socio-economic equity through linkages.”

The theme recognized the role of SMEs in Kenya’s economic growth. Chief guest Dr. Juma Mukhwana, who is the Principal Secretary in the State Department for Industry at the Ministry of Trade said SMEs employ 14.1 million people [representing 93% of Kenya’s national workforce], and contribute 24% to the country’s GDP.
