Intervention to provide Safe drinking water for school going children

About 28 million people in Kenya lack access to safe water. Out of a population of 53 million, an estimated 41 million lack access to improved sanitation.
This is aggravated by climate change, urbanization, pollution, and poor management of water resources
thus affecting economic activities, food security, education, and health.

MKUF has been at the forefront in providing solutions to communities. The Foundation drilled two boreholes in water-poor Lodwar, Turkana County, and in partnership with non-profit organization Partners for Care distributed portable and recyclable water backpacks to pupils from the water-scarce Laikipia County.
The project was enabled through a grant by The Talloires Network of Engaged Universities, USA. Children- benefited from the programme, which was implemented in partnership with Partners For Care.
The programme has since been replicated to other parts of the country facing similar challenges.
